What is an affiliate program?
An affiliate program is where an affiliate (you) refers a new prospect or customer to an online business (us), and if the newly referred person (referral) purchases a product, then we pay you a commission on that sale, because we want to thank you for telling others about our business and products.

How does BusinessBuildingShortcuts know whom I have referred?
In order to give you affiliate credit and commissions, we need to be able to identify the people that you referred to us. The way that is done is by giving you a special URL (link) that you use when you refer people to us -- this is your affiliate link. Instead of sending people directly to our product page or website, give them your affiliate link to that page. When your referral clicks your affiliate link, it sets a cookie on their computer that links them to you. That way, when they buy a product, our software automatically recognizes that they came to us through your affiliate link, and it credits you with an affiliate sale. And you earn a commission.

When I refer someone to BusinessBuildingShortcuts today, what if they don't buy a product until a few months later. Will I still earn a commission?
There are three things that will affect whether a sale is tracked back to you:
  • Our system tracks people for life. (practically speaking, that's several years)
  • Did the person you referred click on an affiliate link from any other affiliate after they clicked on your link. Our system uses 'last cookie' affiliate tracking, meaning that the most recent affiliate link clicked on will get the credit for referring that person (and any commissions earned). So be sure to always include your affiliate link when you promote a product. 
  • If someone clears their cookies or has their computer set to refuse cookies, then there will be no way to link that referral to you. This is not all that common, but again, a good reason to always include your affiliate link in your promotions.
Who can become an affiliate for BusinessBuildingShortcuts?
Anyone can be an affiliate for us, provided they follow our guidelines. They are:
  • Do not use your affiliate link(s) for your own use (you cannot purchase products for yourself through your affiliate link in order to get a commission.)
  • Do not promote our products or services via sites that contain offensive content or using marketing methods that are illegal.
  • Only use ethical marketing methods to promote our products or services. We will NOT tolerate anyone promoting products or services through unsolicited e-mail marketing (or "spam").

Anyone not agreeing to these guidelines, or who does not follow them in their marketing practices, will be immediately removed as an affiliate and will not be permitted to receive affiliate commissions. By signing up as an affiliate, you agree to follow these guidelines.

How will I know when I have earned a commission?
When you sign up as an affiliate, you will receive access to your special affiliate area. In your affiliate area, you can check your stats any time to see how many people have been referred through you (have clicked your affiliate link), and how many sales are credited to you. You can also check to see how much you have earned in commissions. In addition, you will receive an email whenever someone you have referred makes a purchase.
All of this is handled automatically by our shopping cart and affiliate management system.

How will I get paid?
We pay commissions by check once a month (after the 5th). You have to have earned $50 in commissions in any given month to receive a check for that month - if you earned less than $50 that month, your earnings will be carried forward and we will write you a check as soon as your commissions reach $50. Of course, you can always request commission payment for less than $50 under special circumstances.
